Why choose HR Manage
Nine reasons South African organisations choose HR Manage
Buying an HR system is a ten-year decision. Here is why organisations from a hundred employees to more than 80 000 have made it in our favour, many of them more than a decade ago, and are still with us.
Genuinely comprehensive
People, leave, training, performance, job profiling, workflows and forms, document signing, incident reporting, industrial relations, assets, reporting and BI, with recruitment following in the next phase. The full life-cycle of people at work on one database, with oversight and control of core HR data through standard and custom workflows.
It fits organisations from a hundred employees to groups with tens of thousands.
One database for the whole employee life-cycle
South African compliance, built in
Employment Equity, SETA and BBBEE reporting are core functions, not add-ons and OFO codes sit on every job profile. When the Department of Labour changed the EE report in 2025, HR Manage clients had the updated report within weeks: agility a global release schedule cannot offer for one country’s legislation. POPIA considerations run through the product.

Partner with the people who build it
We develop all our own software, so you deal directly with the company that writes HR Manage, in your time zone, through dedicated key account managers who know your configuration. The help portal is one keypress away from every screen.
We only develop HR software. It is our whole business, not a side project of a general software house.
Support from the team that owns the code
Affordable, in Rand, without lock-in
HR Manage typically costs 20 to 50 % of what the international suites charge, and it is priced in Rand, as a subscription or a traditional licence, so the exchange rate never surprises you. Implementation, training and custom work are quoted locally too.
We also do not lock clients into long contracts: a subscription can be cancelled on 30 days’ notice, so HR Manage has to keep earning its place.

Implemented in weeks, not years
Our own consultants, subject-matter experts in both HR and IT, implement the full system in weeks to a few months, depending on how ready your data and processes are. Implementing a large enterprise suite routinely takes months to years, and an implementation partner to deliver.

Constantly evolving
HR Manage is permanently in development: several upgrades a year bring new features and improvements, not just fixes, and the roadmap is public. The product you buy keeps getting better without a migration project. See the roadmap →

Customisable and extensible
Configuration, custom fields, your own colours, rules, visual report designers and no-code workflows cover most requirements. Beyond that, custom plugins add screens and data structures, and custom workflow activities talk to external systems, all while you stay on the standard product and keep receiving every upgrade.

Integrates with what you have
Direct integration with Sage 300 People, PaySpace and SimplePay, and file, database or API integration with almost any other payroll. We create standard integrations for well-known e-learning, time and attendance and other commonly used systems, and custom plugins that integrate seamlessly with your own external systems. Proven at scale, for 25 years
The first commercial release was in December 2001. Today the largest single HR Manage database holds more than 80 000 employees, and our longest-standing client has run the system for over twenty years. HR Manage versus competing products
How HR Manage compares with other HR systems, local and international. Many are good products; the question is what they cost to make fit here. Vendors differ, so ask these questions of every option on your shortlist.
| Consideration | HR Manage | Competing products |
|---|---|---|
| Price level | 20 to 50 % of international equivalent systems | Premium pricing for international and enterprise systems, plus partner fees for implementation |
| Pricing currency | Rand, as a subscription or a traditional license | US dollars or euros for international systems, so costs move with the exchange rate |
| Contract | No long lock-in; a subscription ends on 30 days’ notice | Multi-year commitments are the norm, or a large upfront investment |
| Implementation | Weeks to months, by our own consultants | Months to years for enterprise systems, through implementation partners |
| South African legislation | EE, SETA and BBBEE reporting standard, updated as the law changes | Localisation project or a third-party add-on, if at all |
| Payroll integration | Sage 300 People, PaySpace and SimplePay built in. Any other payroll can be integrated with through the standard means available, including database, secure ftp, file or API. | Often limited to the vendor’s own payroll or a few named partners; anything else is an integration project |
| Custom functionality or features | A plugin or workflow activity, built by the product team | A change request, often quoted in foreign currency, if allowed at all |
| Who supports you | Key account managers at the company that writes the code, in SAST | Tiered support, escalated to another continent if using an international provider |
| Power tools for HR | A full Windows application for power users that manages thousands of records with ease, plus the web application for employees | Browser only; bulk work through imports and consultants |
| Document signing | Built in, for internal and external signers, no per-envelope fee | Some providers support it, some through a separate e-signature subscription, but most do not have it at all |
| Where it runs | Hosted by People Resolutions in South Africa or on your own servers | Cloud-based systems are usually on the vendor’s cloud |
| Track record | 25 years; clients of more than twenty years | Varies; local partners and support teams come and go |
Questions we are asked
Straight answers
The short versions. The FAQ has the rest, and our team will gladly answer the ones specific to your organisation.
Is HR Manage web-based?
Yes, and deliberately also more than that. Version 7 ships a new web application for employees and managers: leave, workflows and forms, reviews, the Employee File and document signing, in light or dark mode on any current browser. HR practitioners additionally get the Windows application for configuration, importers, designers, bulk work and BI, depth that a browser-only system cannot match. Both run on the same database and security model.
Cloud or on-premises?
Either. We host HR Manage for many clients, including ones that synchronise with an on-premises payroll, or you run it on your own Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure. The same product, the same releases.
How long does an implementation take?
Weeks to a few months, depending on client readiness: how clean the employee data is, whether the payroll integration is standard, and how many custom workflows you want on day one. Our consultants run the project, migrate the data and train your team; you are not handed to a partner.
Subscription or traditional licence, and what if we are not happy?
Both models are available, in Rand. We do not tie clients into long contracts: a subscription can be cancelled on 30 days’ notice, so the system has to keep earning its place. Optional modules such as AI-assisted compliance are priced separately and can be switched off.
How big can it go?
The largest single HR Manage database holds more than 80 000 employees, with hundreds of power users, and the version 7 server tier was designed for thousands of concurrent users. Smaller organisations run the whole system on one server.
What about single sign-on and multi-factor authentication?
HR Manage has its own user accounts and links to Microsoft Entra ID and Google for sign-in. Multi-factor authentication can be left to individual users or enforced by company policy, for the web application, the Windows application or both.
